You know that moment of pure brilliance, so perfect that a lightbulb literally turns on above your head! Good. Because no one has ever had one of those moments in writing, and if they say they have, or you say they have, they’re all liars. Writing is completely revoltingly beautiful. It is going to stress you out to the point of throwing your pen, or if your on a computer then slamming your head in a wall. If this happens DON’T WORRY! No matter how many times you re-write and edit it’s never going to be how you wish it was, like any piece of art, the image in your mind can never be expressed in reality. So the job of trying to transcribe imagination is left to us incapable humans, ones who barely grasp the concept of intellect and reason, tools needed simply to guide us through life, let alone those slippery concepts. It’s your job as a writer to push through, to hurl all the words out and then sort through them, rearranging, cutting and adding as you go along, seeing just how close to the image in your mind you can get. You’ll never be able to say that you have reached that point as a writer. Because writing  is utter nonsense, a series of concepts thrown together in hopes of crafting something people will be able to carry with them. A pocketbook of the human mind!  You start with all these concepts floating around and then they all begin to connect forming the basis of a story, then everything is thrown out of balance while trying to write it all down, the story changes as you go and concepts are scratched for better ones. Finally you have to scrape away all the useless junk and settle everything in its place. A good writer is able to express notions in as few words as possible. They choose the important word, not overbearing the reader with unnecessary information. Those that left a clear, sharp image, beautiful in it’s simplicity.  Writing is living, it changes and reshapes itself matching the reader, the time, and the emotions it is being read with. That is why it is so important for the author to be open to changing your story, let it lead you, get surprised and you’ll know you’re on the right track all you have to do is to make sure it doesn’t ‘t get out of hand.
